MAYOR MEEHAN AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONOR LOCAL SENIOR CITIZENS AT SENIOR SPRING LUNCHEON
Mayor Michael T. Meehan and the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Manorhaven hosted a Senior Spring Luncheon on Friday, May 21, 2010. Over seventy local residents attended the event held at the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center. Mayor Meehan, Deputy Mayor Patrick Brostowin, Trustee John M. DiLeo, Jr., Trustee Rita DiLucia, and Trustee Brendan Fahey all joined in the celebration, which brought together many people from the community who otherwise had not seen each other.
Mayor Meehan was joined by Debbie Greco, the President of the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center, in honoring local seniors Joan DiBianco and Genevieve Tomasky. Ms. DiBianco, a retired art teacher from the Plainview School District, and Ms. Tomasky, a retired employee of Thompson Industries who has lived in Port Washington for over 50 years, were both honored for their efforts in creating a sense of community and for their service to other senior citizens. Their efforts make others feel included by coordinating a variety of activities such as painting, arts and crafts, and day trips. Ms. Greco and Mayor Meehan also joined in celebrating the tireless efforts of Ms. Dolores Holliday, the Director of the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center.
Funding for the luncheon was generously provided by Dejana Industries, Inc., a local corporate sponsor.
